The 7/7 attacks, otherwise known as Nosemonkey's greatest hit :P

Joking aside, thanks for commemorating it; It actually passed me by this year. And you're right, it's great to see our country back to the pre-hysteria days. Something to be happy about.

I heartily agree. I also feel very strongly that we have unnecessarily and dangerously played into the terrorists' hands with the "war on terror". It is good to see that the UK and US governments have largely dropped this term, because it was used to justify hardline, anti-democratic measures that violated fundamental civil liberties, handing the terrorists a very significant victory.

Bombers like those who perpretrated 7/7 are nothing more than common murderers, and should be treated as such. Our institutions are plenty strong enough to deal with them.

Much more important anniversary. It's 4 years since I started reading this silly thing you call a 'blog', and thus 4 years since I realised that us normal people could make a difference in terms of news gathering and information forming now.

That's a bit more important methinks ;-)

Still, Londoners can carry on, Mancunians can't--have you seen the state of the city centre since they rebuilt it? Horrible. Unless you like shopping.

[...] 7/7 attacks, four years onIf you haven’t, read the liveblog from the day , have a look at the one year on post, much of which still stands (though, thankfully, this country seems to be rather less hysterical about terrorism these days), and flick through the London Terror Attacks archive. It’s important not to forget those that died. But although a memorial is being unveiled later today, the thing about terrorism remains that it exists to terrorise. Four years on, the level of fear in London is back to what it [...]
