  1. How very unpatriotic of you :-)
I understand how you feel, though. When a Belgian politician announced he would like Flanders to bid for the Games in 2016 I nearly fainted.

    Anyhow, good luck anyway.

  2. Sit back and watch the chaos. The international embarrassment. The financial corruption. The overruns. The tantrums. The recriminations and backbiting.

    It's going to rock.

  3. gah, y' miserable old sod. It'll be fun.
A huge chunk of the money's going to go on much-needed transport infrastructure improvements or affordable housing (the olympic village). Essentially, the olympic games will be getting these things built, and the income will help to subsidise these.
The main stadium will be frequently filled with concerts and sporting events, and the other facilities, such as the swimming pool and velodrome, are long overdue in london.
As long as the stadia are pretty much paid for out of the sponsorship, the telly rights and the tickets, then we'll be in the black when you factor in the value of the infrastructure and the potential benfit to east london.
Plus, the huge cost will essentially be a large public works project, keeping vast numbers of people in ganful employment for the next 7 years or so.
